Unframed. This is 3 of 3 original life-sized painted pressings of a Porgy that was caught out of Ocean City by Skilligalee Seafood of Berlin, Maryland. These represent a beautiful continuation of a growing community partnership with equally passionate locally owned and operated organizations.

Earlier in the Fall of 2025 we did a DIY educational sip and paint night with Maryland Coastal Bays. Friends of theirs at Skilligalee Seafood found out about the event and donated some fresh Black Sea Bass and Triggerfish for people to practice doing Gyotakus with. Folks had an absolute time and a friendly partnership was forged.

After the event I got to bring those fish home, do a few additional Gyotakus before eating them, and returned to Skilligalee to give them a Black Sea Bass and Triggerfish as a thank you and a special memento. When I brought those paintings to them, they remembered that I had yet to add a Porgy to the Gyotaku Gallery, so they sent me home with a Thanksgiving dinner and some homework.

These Porgy Gyotakus remind me of how much we have, and ought, to be thankful for. Every Gyotaku I do, and every step in the processes along the way, I approach with a mind of gratitude and a spirit full of appreciation. These are my best attempts to honor, appreciate, and immortalize these living things and lasting memories.
