Every Gyotaku is a uniquely different pressing even when it’s the same subject. Each of these was a progression upon the next.
Art has a unique way of connecting people and creating communities. Thanks to the social media networks, Brooke & I connected over the thousands of Horseshoe Crabs that had been washing up into their canal in Ocean City Maryland, thanks to a variety of natural conditions not limited to the wind and tides.
Brooke invited Marie & me to come visit the situation and do some Gyotakus. We painted and pressed a small batch right there on her deck with the sunset painting the background with a favorable wind and tide pushing the dead Horseshoe Crabs back out into the bay. One of these is going back to Brooke for being a most welcoming and generous host!
