Description
This is an original hand painted and pressed Rock Hind that we caught while we were in Belize. We went down to celebrate 0ur 10 year wedding anniversary and we knew we wanted to celebrate by doing what we love, spending time on & in the water.
This particular Gyotaku is the first of a new species! It marks a great memory of a fishing trip of dreams for me. I was lucky enough to go fish solo with a couple locals who took me a long to cast net for bait and catch a variety of beautiful (and delicious) reef fish by hand lining. Varying in sizes, Captain Justin said that we had a really good day on the water. We caught a couple 5gal buckets of fish and enough to bring back to the island and for the crew to bring home to family and friends.
Gyotaku was created by Japanese fisherman so they could still have a way to share their catch after it was shared at the table, that tradition lives on.
