Unframed. This Speck was caught out of Wenona Maryland from my kayak on June 2nd, 2025. Once I got home, I made a small, limited batch of initial black pressings from it before I rinsed it off and prepped it for the plate. A benefit of Gyotaku is that I can revisit and add color to those initial rubbings.
On June 27th, 2025, I came back to this initial press, detailed, and tried to bring those iridescent shades and shines back to this final product.
These early summer, post work, evening paddles are my best attempt of finding harmony and balance back to a busy life. Catching keeper Speckled Trout isn’t always a common occurrence for me even though they’re one of my preferred species to target by casting lures. So, to catch one of this size made it one of my favorite memories of the summer of 2025.
